Customer support response times, LLC formation services

This research digs into how fast the top LLC services actually get back to you. We hit up every provider's support channels, from phone and email to live chat, and timed how long it took to get answers, how good those answers were, and what the whole experience felt like. The point is to give founders a real sense of which services won't leave you hanging when something goes wrong. Our earlier research on the checkout experience looked at the sales side, but this one's about what goes down after you've handed over your money.

The Better Business Bureau states: "How fast a company gets back to you says a lot about how much they care. When support drags its feet or goes silent, complaints pile up and reviews turn ugly."

Methodology

We ran a blind test on five big LLC services: Inc Authority, ZenBusiness, Bizee, Northwest Registered Agent, and LegalZoom. For each one, we hit up support through phone, email, and live chat. Our ranking method treats support quality as a major piece of the overall score.

We called during business hours, 9 to 5 EST. Emails went out through their contact forms. We also started live chats on each site. Then we tracked how fast they replied, how helpful the answer was, and if the problem actually got fixed. The Federal Trade Commission puts it this way: "Businesses should provide clear and accessible customer support channels and respond to inquiries in a timely manner."

Inc authority support

Inc Authority’s got phone, email, and live chat. Their team’s quick and knows their stuff. Inc Authority's formation packages come with support access, and we found them consistently responsive on every channel.

Phone Support. You’ll usually wait 3 to 5 minutes. Reps know their stuff, and they fixed most problems on the first call. The Inc Authority website says: "Our dedicated support team is available to assist you with any questions about your LLC formation."

Email Support. We usually get back to you within 4 to 8 hours during business hours. Replies are thorough and actually answer what you asked. We didn't see any automated or generic responses.

Live Chat. We usually reply in 1 to 2 minutes. The interface is simple, and our reps really know the formation process and what each state requires.

Overall Assessment. Inc Authority gives you solid support across the board. Phone gets you answers fast, and live chat sorts things out quickly too. Email takes longer, but it's pretty complete when it comes. The Better Business Bureau rating for Inc Authority shows customers are happy with how they're treated.

Zenbusiness support

ZenBusiness gives you phone, email, and live chat support. Their team’s pretty responsive, but phone wait times can run longer than average. One of the biggest mistakes when choosing a LLC service is underestimating how much support quality matters, and our testing shows ZenBusiness could do better.

Phone Support. You’ll usually wait five to ten minutes. Reps are friendly and helpful, though sometimes they have to pass things up to a supervisor to get them sorted. The ZenBusiness site puts it this way: "We're here to help you every step of the way with your LLC formation."

Email Support. We usually get back to you within 6 to 12 hours. Most replies are actually useful, though sometimes you'll get a generic answer that doesn't quite hit the mark.

Live Chat. Average response time is 2 to 4 minutes. The interface is clean, but reps sometimes have to look things up, so it can take longer to get things sorted.

Overall Assessment. ZenBusiness offers good support, though there’s room to improve phone wait times and email response quality. Live chat is your best bet for quick answers. The Better Business Bureau rating shows mixed feedback on how responsive support really is.

Bizee support

Bizee (formerly Incfile) gives you phone, email, and live chat support. Their team's quick to respond and actually helpful, and you won't wait as long as you would with some other companies. When comparing Inc Authority and Bizee, support quality is a spot where both do great, but Bizee's phone wait times are a bit shorter.

Phone Support. You’ll usually wait 2 to 4 minutes. The reps know the formation process well and sorted out most problems fast. The Bizee site says: "Our support team is available to help you with any questions about your LLC filing."

Email Support. We usually get back to you in 3 to 6 hours. Our replies are thorough and actually answer what you asked. No copy paste stuff.

Live Chat. We usually reply in 1 to 3 minutes. The interface is simple, and reps give you clear, useful answers.

Overall Assessment. Bizee gives you solid support, and they're quick to get back to you no matter how you reach out. Phone and live chat are especially fast. The Better Business Bureau rating shows customers are happy with the help they get.

Northwest support

Northwest Registered Agent has phone, email, and live chat support. Their team is quick to respond and actually knows their stuff, which makes a big difference. Comparing Inc Authority and Northwest shows they beat out the competition on response time and how well they solve issues.

Phone Support. Average wait time is 1 to 2 minutes. The reps really know their stuff and usually fix things on the first call. The Northwest website says: "We believe in providing exceptional customer service with knowledgeable support staff."

Email Support. We usually get back to you within 2 to 4 hours. Replies are detailed and tailored to what you actually asked.

Live Chat. We usually reply in about a minute or two. The interface is clean, and the reps give you clear, practical answers.

Overall Assessment. Northwest has the best support of any service we looked at. You won't wait long on the phone, and their email replies are some of the quickest around. Live chat? Super responsive. The Better Business Bureau rating lines up with what people keep saying about how solid the support is.

Legalzoom support

LegalZoom has phone, email, and live chat support. Their team responds, but you'll wait longer on the phone than with other services. Why LegalZoom is so expensive gets asked a lot, and our research shows that slower support is one reason the value feels shaky next to cheaper options.

Phone Support. You’re looking at a 10 to 20 minute wait on average. The reps know their stuff, though they might have to pass you along sometimes. LegalZoom puts it this way: "Our customer support team is available to assist you with your legal needs."

Email Support. We usually get back to you within 8 to 24 hours. The answers are solid, but we're not the fastest out there.

Live Chat. Average response time is 3 to 6 minutes. The interface works fine, but reps sometimes take a bit longer to dig up answers.

Overall Assessment. LegalZoom’s support is okay, but you’ll wait longer than you would with rivals. Phone holds are the worst, and email replies drag. The Better Business Bureau rating shows folks are split on how fast they respond, and a few gripes mention long waits.
