CompareLLCs started because we lived it. We tried to form a LLC, and everywhere we looked, the info was a mess. Contradictory, confusing, and honestly, kind of shady.

We were founders ourselves. We’d sat at our kitchen tables, laptops open, staring at state government websites that looked like they were designed in 1998. We’d clicked through checkout pages on formation services only to discover hidden fees and aggressive upsells. We’d read articles that were clearly written by people who had never actually filed a LLC.

So we decided to build something better.

Our mission is pretty simple: give you honest, accurate, and practical info on forming and managing a LLC. No fluff. No sales pitches dressed up as advice. Just the facts, laid out clearly, with all the context you need to feel good about your choice.

What sets us apart

We actually do the work

Most "review" sites just rehash marketing fluff. We don't. We actually go through the whole formation process ourselves, signing up, paying, and filing, so we can tell you exactly what it feels like. We check prices, test support, and document every single step.

When we say a service has hidden fees, it's because we found them right in the checkout. When we say the support's great, it's because we tried it and they came through. We don't guess. We check.

We're not afraid to call it like we see it

If a service costs too much, we say it. If a feature does nothing, we call it out. And if a company’s got a trail of complaints, we won’t hide that either. Our reviews are straight up, sometimes painfully so. That’s what our readers deserve.

We're transparent about our biases

We participate in affiliate programs. That means we earn money when you click a link on our site and make a purchase. We disclose this clearly and openly.

But affiliate relationships don’t sway what we write. We won’t take money for a good review. We’re not promising glowing coverage either. Our picks come from our own digging, not from whatever keeps the lights on.
